Workers 'take sales jobs on holiday'

Stressed-out workers may be finding it difficult to detach from their sales jobs, according to a new study.

Research by Monster Meter recently found that, while 47 per cent of people do not work during their holidays, 15 per cent claimed that they never really switch off from their employment duties, reports Online Recruitment magazine.

Some 22 per cent of those polled claimed to stay partly in touch with their sales jobs or other roles by occasionally checking emails and telephone messages, with some noting that they would make themselves available while on leave in an emergency situation.

Julian Aqcuari, chief executive officer of Monster UK and Ireland, commented that organisations should encourage workers in positions such as sales jobs to take time out to recuperate.

"Taking time away from work not only refreshes your batteries, but it gives you the opportunity to step back and make sure you're really getting what you want from your career," he told the publication.

Actress Samantha Morton recently said that UK workers may be overstretched by the daily grind.
