Jobseekers name Scotland most desirable destination

Scotland is the number one choice for global job hunters looking to relocate to the UK, it has been revealed.

Research carried out by TalentScotland surveyed 2,602 global job hunters and found 49 per cent picked Scotland as their first selection, compared to 44 per cent who chose England as their preferred location.

The study also revealed local education services are the most important factor in choosing a place to work, selected by 74 per cent of jobseekers, followed by house prices (74 per cent), culture and shopping (52 per cent) and access to nature (51 per cent).

Hazel Sinclair, head of the organisation, commented that she is unsurprised that Scotland is so popular.

"Not only do we have a wealth of great jobs across a wide range of sectors, but we have all the additional quality of life aspects, such as world-class schools and universities," she said.

Last week, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation claimed sales recruitment agencies are key resources for those looking at job vacancies due to their knowledge about the sector and the key companies within it.
