Government 'to help with jobseeker stress'
Those experiencing anxiety and stress as they search for work are to be helped by a government health scheme.
Health secretary Alan Johnson and work and pensions secretary James Purnell stated that a new network of employment support staff is to be created, while greater access to talking therapies will be provided.
According to the Department of Health, six million adults in the UK have depression or anxiety and many of these are on incapacity benefits and unable to seek work.
Mr Johnson commented: "If someone is feeling down after losing their job, then the best solution is a new job and we're helping people to find them wherever possible."
He went on to say that those who are overly stressed can find this is a barrier to seeking employment and added that those who are in this position should be in no doubt about where to turn.
