Redundancy will not affect chances of sales job
Candidates who have been made redundant in the economic downturn will not be at a disadvantage when applying for sales jobs, according to one expert.
Cheryl Morgan, a Jobsite.co.uk careers counsellor, said that around one in three workers incorrectly believe they would not be considered for a position if they have been made redundant.
She said: "From an employer's point of view, most recruiters would always interview a quality candidate, regardless of whether they'd been made redundant. This is even truer in the current climate."
People applying for sales jobs who have been made redundant should try to ensure they leave their role with a good reference, as this will confirm the decision was based on circumstance and not lack of ability.
A survey of more than 500 senior executives from around the UK told TheLadders.co.uk about the importance of wearing the right clothes to a sales job interview as more than 75 per cent of respondents said dressing to impress was vital.
