Sales jobs: ?The worst is over?

People looking for sales jobs may be interested to learn that a senior figure at one of the UK's leading companies has said the worst of the recession is over and jobs in the private sector will begin to recover.

John Hawksworth, head of macroeconomics at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), was reacting to research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), which showed the rate of unemployment in the private sector will slow in the coming quarter.

He said: "[The research is] consistent with other evidence that suggests that, while the recession may not be over, we at least may be past the worst of it."

Mr Hawksworth added that the public sector would not prosper to the same extent as the private and said government cutbacks in spending could lead to some redundancies.

Private sector sales jobs are not the only area that will see growth, according Siobhan Chapman, deputy editor at ComputerworldUK.com, who said the IT sales jobs market would blossom in the coming years.
