A new government scheme to ensure the nation's businesses only choose workers based on their skills and suitability for the job, rather than their social background, has taken a step closer after 100 major employers signed up to it.

'More support needed' for up-and-coming entrepreneurs

The government should give more help to budding entrepreneurs wanting to set up businesses, according to an industry expert.

The Forum of Private Business said that the tax system should be changed to make it easier for new sales enterprises to get off the ground and survive.

Phil McCabe, a spokesperson for the forum, said that the UK should have a simplified, better and legislative tax system which encourages new businesses to thrive.

He added: "There are organisations like us that offer support but I think more needs to be done from a governmental level to make it easier for entrepreneurs with a marketable idea to start a business. We are looking at the perennial issues of tax and red tape."

His comments follow research from the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies which said that support professionals across the UK are calling for more help for people setting up sales jobs.

The federation highlighted that there has been an increase in demand for their start-up services from people with professional, managerial and sales recruitment backgrounds.
