Sales recruitment demand sees signs of recovery

Online hiring among retailers for sales jobs has shown signs of recovery recently, according to new research.

Statistics revealed in the Monster Employment Index showed that offerings in the sales sector grew, while online job demand in the public technology sector dropped.

The encouraging figures for the sales recruitment industry extend a six-month positive trend, while there were also upturns in online hiring for the telecommunications market and the leisure industry.

Monster's index showed that sales recruitment had 93 points in September, which was down on the heights of a year ago when it was at 133.

However, since January, when the sector hit a low of 82 on the scale, steady improvements have been made month-by-month, with most other industries showing a drop in points since July.

The overall picture saw online employment opportunities across the UK dip by two points in September, as job demand dropped slightly for the second month.

Consumer confidence has also risen, according to the British Retail Consortium, with the index rising to 75 points, compared to the all-time-low reported in April of 65.
