Expert: Part-time sales jobs should not be overlooked

People should not underestimate the importance of part-time sales jobs, according to an industry expert.

Felix Wetzel, group marketing director at Jobsite, said that the increasing number of people currently working in part-time positions is not necessarily a bad thing.

"Working part time keeps skills updated, provides people with a current reference, allows them time to job hunt and attend interviews for a full time position and keeps them in that crucial workplace routine," he added.

Mr Wetzel also added that part-time jobs can also provide people with the time to attend courses, gain qualifications or perhaps do voluntary work in a different field which can all be beneficial in helping them become successful in full-time sales recruitment.

His comments come after research from the Office for National Statistics showed that nearly one million people were working part time because they could not find a full time position, the highest figure since records began in 1992.
