London is most popular jobseeker destination

Sales recruitment hopefuls look for jobs in London more than in any other city in the world, according to a new study.

The research, which was commissioned by totaljobs.com, found that, from more than 66,000 employees in 40 countries, the UK was an attractive prospect for highly educated job seekers.

London, Manchester and Bristol were all popular destinations for UK workers looking for jobs in the country.

Of employees looking for sales recruitment opportunities abroad, 22 per cent opted for London, followed by 16 per cent for New York and 12 per cent for Sydney.

Adam Marshall, director of the British Chambers of Commerce, said that despite the fact that the UK is still recovering from the recession, the survey shows that Britain remains a popular destination for global job seekers.

"Our cities and especially London are seen as good places to live and work, which could help promote economic growth and vitality in the medium-term," he added.

New recruitment figures gave encouraging news to sales recruitment hopefuls recently, with Thomas Usher, research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies, predicting that the "worst appears to be over".
