CEO's planning for sales recruitment rebound

Nearly two-thirds of UK chief executive officers (CEOs) believe that recovery in the economy will bring about a rebound in the number of jobs available.

The latest PricewaterhouseCoopers 13th annual Global CEO survey found that 63 per cent believe there is cautious optimism for the future of the economy.

Furthermore, 42 per cent of UK business leaders are planning to increase their headcount in the next 12 months.

This situation is more positive than those reflected around Europe, with only 30 per cent of CEOs in France and 29 per cent in Italy expecting to take on more workers in the near future.

Ian Powell, UK chairman and senior partner for PricewaterhouseCoopers, said: " "It is encouraging to see that UK CEOs are beginning, if somewhat cautiously, to prepare for an upturn."

These figures come on the back of recent Office for National Statistics data which showed a slight improvement in the UK job market.
