Reapplying for own job 'should be taken seriously'

People in sales jobs who are having to reapply for their own position should take the process seriously, according to an industry expert.

Robin Wood, managing director of careers and outplacement consultancy CMC, told ThisisMoney.co.uk that when it is an external interview people dress up smartly and prepare well, and this must be done despite knowing the people who will be asking the questions.

"But while the fact the employer or manager already knows you may help, employees need to recognise there is no guarantee of landing a new role," he added.

Gary Davies, 26, had to reapply for his position and advised people wanting to stay in their sales job that they still have to get their skills across, stating that while his interview was very informal he still had to sell himself to the recruitment team.
