Job hunters should 'ask for the position'

Those who have interviews coming should end them by asking for the job, sales recruitment hopefuls have been told.

Karen Burns, the author of a number of career books, told USNews that applicants should bare in mind that they are job hunting and not begging for a handout.

Furthermore, many hiring managers like people saying that they want the job as it shows eagerness, honesty and enthusiasm.

"[This can be done] by searching for common ground and adopting the tone of working together toward a common goal. The better you get to know your interviewer, the easier it'll be to find the right words to 'ask for the job'," the expert added.

She also stated that applicants should ask if there are any reasons why they should not be offered the position, so that then they can try and cover any doubts.

Earlier this month, Ms Burns stated that failing to ask any questions at all in an interview is one of the biggest errors a person can make.
